  1. When using this under the Advanced Tab in Tmpgenc I thought I read somewhere else that using 1:1 just keeps the same aspect ratio as the source, is this true??
I am trying to turn a DVD into a VCD and was told to pick 4:3 or 16:9 whatever DVD2AVI said it was. If the above is true why can't I just pick 1:1 instead.

Thanks in advance for any help

1:1 does make a 1:1 copy of the image. DVD most have a 4:3 anamorphic picture or 16:9. If you make a 1:1 copy, TMPGEnc fits the original aspect ratio into the frame. This way you will end up with an anamorphic (vertically stretched) picture. If you have a 16:9 TV set, then the TV will restore the original aspect ratio by stretching it horizontally. If you have a 4:3 TV set, you will end up with egghead etc.
