I have some avi clips that I've converted to MPEG2 to make DVDs. They play at normal speed, but, the sound is like the sound in a [/i]very, very slow motion clip.
I probably should also say that when these AVI clips were played in VLC media player before conversion, the sound was kind of choppy and staticky. However, other AVI clips from the same source also sounded choppy before conversion when played in VLC, and also after conversion when played in Nero Showtime, but when they were finally burned to DVD, the resulting DVD sounded just fine.
Ideas?

You might take the problematic file and drop it into Gspot 2.52 and compare it with a known good file. Check particularly for MP3 VBR audio, or to a lesser extent AC3 audio. If you find either, or nothing, you might want to drop one into VirtualDub and see what it says. You can also 'Scan video stream for errors' in VD and see what comes up.
What it really sounds like is a bad framerate conversion, like 23.976 to 25 or 29.970 or something similar. Comparing them in Gspot should show that.
