  1. I've finally started recording in Divx instead of MP4 BUT have a problem with commercials. I've tried cbreak, but all I get is a blank scan file and that's it.

    Any ideas?

    I know I can do this by hand, but I'm looking for something automatic.

    Most use vdub .

    The simple .

    Open video
    Set video to direct stream copy
    Set audio to direct stream copy

    Go to video , choose begining
    In the middle of vdub , below timeline are two black arrow button's ... these are lock's ... hit the first one (left)

    Now on time line , grab that button , and drag it to where first add start's .
    Use arrow key's to move forward or back one frame at a time till you have showing the last frame of this clip ... not first frame of add .
    Hit that black arrow button (the right one)

    Video , save as avi ... wait .

    ---------------

    Next :

    Move button on time line till first frame of next clip is shown ... hit that left black arrow button .
    Move button on time line till last frame of this clip is shown ... (not first frame of add) ... hit that black right arrow button .
    Save as avi 2 .

    Remember to name them in sequence to keep order .

    Repeat till all part's have been saved out .

    ========

    Joining :

    Load first part
    Go to file , append avi ... choose next part
    Go to file , append avi ... choose next
    Repeat till all loaded in correct sequence

    Save as avi ... name it "final.avi" ... wait till done ... you can name it the name of the show if you want .

    When completed , delete all temp avi's , and junk the one with the add's in it .

    Your new clip has had all add's ... accurately removed ... dead spot on ... audio will be in sync .

    =========
    =========

    If problem's exist with audio .
    Set audio to full processing .
    Set conversion to 44.1khz , stereo , 16bit .
    Set audio compression to none ... as wav

    Save wav

    When done , go back to audio , and choose wav ... locate your new wav file .
    You may now set compressor to mp3 format ... and proceed with the above info for add removal .

    -------------

    Because audio is being recompressed , it will take longer to save avi part's out , because audio is not set to direct stream copy .

    =======
    =======

    Problem's may accure if audio is detected as vbr ... in vdub setting's ... disable it ... reopen video ... set audio to full processing ... set conversion to 44.1khz , 16bit , stereo ... compression as wav ... save as wav ... go to audio , choose wav ... locate new wav file ... and proceed with previous instruction's

    ------------

    Vbr is like cutting one's leg's off ... dont use it , and dont do it ... using cbr will give less headache's for you and anyone else you send clip's too .

  3. I used to to that all the time when transcoding from VHS tape - but I do not want to go through all that now - this/these are just TV shows I'd like to watch without commercials.
