  1. continuing my investigations into Rars and Pars ive become a student of Alt.binaries.multimedia.

this seems to be TV shows of various types, inculding some from of all places NewZeland!

however there is currently a 'set' called Weeds. this is 10 'episodes' somebody called Yenc-pp-A&A posts and is quite prolific.

the posting stucture of "Weeds" seems different than others:
    a 'sample.avi' 1/38
    a '-subs.rar'
    a '-subs.svf'
    a '.nfo'
    a '.par2'
    various '.r00' to '.r15'
    a '.rar'
    a '.sfv'
    various '.vol00+...' to '.vol37+...'

episode 'Weeds107' seemed to be posted in error as the sample was 1/1

clicking the par2 on any of the episodes seemed to only produce the 'sample' and not the maind event.

clicking the '.rar' unrared the main episode.

but due to perhaps a posting error in 107 clicking the rar got a fatal error.

clicking the par2 repaired the sample and subs but the sample wouldn't play.

it however seemed to repair the '.r00' so that then clicking the '.rar' produced the full episode

    how about that.

so why did the par2 not work to produce both the sample and the main item in all the posts? it seemed to only reference to the sample.avi which downloaded in an uncompressed fashion anyway.

so if you too are a student of RAR's and PAR's and have a little bandwith to burn or heat your space see what you think

cheers and thanks for all the great help

to bad it would be pushing it in this forum to ask about iTunes libraries! MacNN isn't very chatty about this.

maybe we could think of iTunes libraries as movies with your eyes closed??
