Im trying to back up a dvd but edit some of the audio in the process, doesnt have to be very professional just blank out one or two lines.
I have dvdshrink and dvd decrypter which Ive used before for straight backups.
can I use these programs to blank out some of the audio, or what would be the best (cheapest!) way to do this?
cheers.

You need to split the vobs into their elementary streams. In other words, you want an m2v file and an mp2 (It is a PAL disc right?) or wav file. Then you want to edit your audio. Finally you want to remux, or just author a new DVD.
DgIndex will split your vob into elementary streams.
Goldwave (shareware) or Audacity will be good enough for your audio editing.
If you need to convert the mp2 file to wav, try DbPowerAmp. It will also convert it back for you.
For authoring the DVD, I normally use DVDAuthorGUI, but I've never authored a PAL DVD. I don't even know if it can candle mp2 audio. There are other choices, but that is beyond my knowledge. Maybe IFOedit can author a PAL DVD with mp2 audio.
All these are free except for Goldwave which is shareware (and well worth the price).
