  1. I bought a new digital camera. When I take video with it, I want to convert it into mpeg so I can eventually put the clips to dvd. I cant seem to get the avi converted to mpeg. I tried tmpgenc and it wasnt supported. It plays with windows media?
    Any thought would be appreciated.
    Thanks

Most Canon still cams use MJPEG for video. You should be able to edit it in Windows Movie maker but don't output to WMV. The best alternative there is DV-AVI. Then take that to a MPeg2 encoder.

List the software you have. Most current commercial video suite programs can handle all digital camera video formats. The PicVideo MJPeg codec is usable in Virtualdub but you may need to buy it unless it came bundled with another program.

PS: I never installed the ArcSoft software that came with my Canon S60 but a general use MJpeg codec might be loaded if you install the bundled software.
