yes they would know if it was cracked in these ways:
1) your registration ke might of already been used and if you register M$ would know
2)if your computer shutdown with out you telling it..then M$ knows
3)and if your lucky enough get pass the two above then here is the other one if you try to update on M$ site
so i suggest you dont install that if iit is not a Pro Corporate Edtion
-
would they know if your cracker reserve engineered parts of the OS and removed the 14 day limit and you never upgraded.
by upgrade do you mean auto-upgrade or any upgrade?
Also a firewall and deny Explorer premission to use ur connection. -
I dreamt I got ahold of a copy of a cracked XP and after two months there were no obvious problems.
I dreamt I didn't register it and that I didnt have to do anything special, and everything was fine.
I like dreams like that. -
F**k Microsoft and F**k Bill Gates.
Been using WinXP Now for 2 months, downloaded from an ftp site, got serial from doing a search for covers.
Updated using microsoft's updated service at the web page without any problems whatsoever.
Anyway what can they do,F**K Them
Lucky for me mines is the Pro Corporate Edition -
I bought the Home Edition Upgrade and it has the option for a full upgrade on the cd, which I did. I completely formatted my hard drive partitioned it and install the full thing not the upgrade. However maybe Windows 98 (on my second drive) was recognized somehow and it did upgrade, but I'm pretty sure my old O/S would get erased during the formatting and partitioning, no?

you gotta get out more. -
Like this hasn't even been done to death...
It's fair to ask for money for an OS, it's fair to even have it be so popular that it becomes a "Monopoly". The whole "Activation" thing is going to far, I think...
I bought the Pro version, but I cracked it for the sole purpose of not having to send M$ my birth certificate, social security number, and bank account information. That's insanity.
Some versions of Office are the same way, need to be "Activated" before they are used permanently.
I wonder what happens when your XP install craps out, and you need to install fresh using the same disk on a new computer... does M$ call that piracy? -
What happens if you brought Windows XP installed it on your computer and activated and registered it.
Then upgrade you CPu and Motherboard also your graphics card.
Then Re-installed Windows XP would it presume your using another computer and refuse to load because it thinks it a pirated version.
If so that means even tho you got only one computer you would have to buy a new copy of Windows XP.
Talk about bullshit MicroSoft should be arrested and given the death penalty for forcing people to pay their precious money for the same product to make some already rich guy and set for life more richer.

they wont know, generally there just corporate that dont require activation, I had one, used windows update and everything fine, what they mean by them knowingg after a bad shutdown is the error report im guessing, the dont send button that pops up after an error solves that.
mine was perfectdont worry about the windows update and everything will be fine -
Run a firewall or disconnect it from the net, thats the only sure way to keep it from snitching on you.

a friend of mine purchased win xp pro.. i wound up having to do 3 format and reinstallations of win xp until i finally got all of his peripherals to work correctly.. activating everytime afterwards.. and then he wanted me to install it on his laptop, an upgrade from win me.. when i installed xp on his laptop and then went to activate it it told me that it had been activated too many times, so i called microsoft and they asked me for a few numbers on the cd holder book thing.. i gave them that and they gave me a number to enter in the failed to activate screen and the copy was activated on his laptop.. its still installed on his pc too.. but he doesnt really have to worry about his laptop being snitched on since he hardly ever has it connected to the net... just info...

You could just download one of the many pre-cracked WinXP iso's floating around the web. You dont have to register or activate XP Pro - 2600 release.
-
Also, there's a program out there floating around called XPAntiSpyv331 It shuts down all the communications options out of the OS, Media Player, IE, etc.
Good little proggy
