viewable on my high definition TV in 16:9?
The video is 16:9 1440x1080
I would just burn it to a DVD in 1440x1080 and see if the date and time is viewable on my TV but DVD can't go that high and there is no HD DVD.
Any suggestions?

buy a hddvd player or mpeg2 hd dvd player or htpc.
or else must you down convert to DVD size. -
Just do as Baldrick suggested. I assume the date/time is permanently embedded on the video. Downconvert the video to DVD (720x480) 16:9 aspect, and play this back at 16:9 on your TV. If the date/time shows fine, the 1440x1080 file will be okay too.
