    Trying to update to version 'W' of ffmpegX. Was able to grab the mencoder and mplayer binaries but can't get the mpeg2enc binary. I tried doing the CTRL-click and choose "download linked file" like the instructions say but I still end up with a text file on my desktop.

    Can anyone tell me an alternative way of getting this binary?

    Just add the +x flag to the file using chmod +x.

    The installer will set it executable when copying (no need for manual chmod). You may remove the .txt suffix (a Safari bug, imo)in the Get Info window's Name & Extension field.

    Thanks for the tips, guys. I just used Explorer and it downloaded fine. Guess Safari doesn't like that mpeg2enc binary for some reason.
