  1. Ok I am at my wits end , Please can any one help DVD 2 dvd-r
problem . I have followed trogans gudie for backing up over sized DVD films. I have Followed the steps one by one.

1.Used smart ripper to rip the files to my hard drive.

2.Demultiplex the ac3 stream and converted to wav format.

3.rencoded the ripped movie files to the desired size so the whole film would fit on to a DVD-R disk.

4.Then there is some flaky explantion about using authoring software to rencode the two files and burn to disk.

I use Sonic MyDVD and I can not find any means or method to
author the disk with seperate video and sound files .

I have tried to get around this problem by multiplexing the two files using bbmpeg. But no luck bbmpeg is not giving me the option to multiplex , I am using winXP os and have downloaded the patch but it does not work.

any one have any ideas pulling my hair out over ere.

  2. 1. Smartripper

    2. DVD2AVI to get the audio stream and .d2v file

    3. use bitrate calculator (either the one here in the links, or MAD) to find out what you need to encode at to get your movie to fit on a disk.

    4. Re-encode with TMPGenc, using the value for bitrate (or use it as the average, if doing VBR(It'll actually end up a smaller filesize than you anticipated)).

    5. that reMPEG program is crap (I tried it, and it erased nearly a third of the movie from the vobs!)

    6. When you are re-encoding, use ONLY the d2v file (not the wav), and save your video as a video-only m2v file.

    7. After that's done (and it'll take a while - especially if you're doing VBR, which doubles the time) fire up the MyDVD, stick the wav file and the m2v file into the pallette to the right, do your menu thingie, add a button, drag the m2v and wav to the button (in that order).

I should add that if you're using your main movie as the "First play" then you need an mpg with both streams, for some reason. I reccommend a menu as first play, then you can use seperate things.

    8. go to project settings, make sure it'll fit. Create a DVD folder (which makes the Video_TS folder) and when that's done, attempt to burn this folder to a disc.

    9. After the program tells you that your disc space is insufficient, proceed to tear your hair out.
Okay, hopefully, you won't need that last one.
    But I did.

What's wrong with using the audio file in TMPGEnc while encoding.

  4. You DO use it when making (S/X)VCDs, but not when making DVD's, because you add them seperately in the authoring program.

  5. When I go to project settings, to make sure it'll fit. I Create a DVD folder (which makes the Video_TS folder) and when I click on OK it says something about my aspi device manager and the program shuts down.
I am running XP, and I am new to this but I have had problems with aspi with XP. I have tried to force but still have problems.
