  1. I am looking for a good slim sized external USB DVD Writer for a PC. I actually bought a NEC ND-6750A as well as a external case that I guess is a generic from meritline.com. Unfortunately this isn't working well at all. I plug it in and it will recognize the drive and often will at first show what's on a inserted CD and then after that it won't work anymore and I've had this problem on all PC's I've hooked it up to. I'm not sure if it's that the case isn't compatible or the drive won't work well externally. I am looking for a new case but kind of gave up figuring I could just buy a all-in-one solution that's more compatible. My problem is most I see are standard size and since this will be mostly used with a laptop I want something that is small and portable. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

  2. The problem came for the case's USB/IDE chip, I have the similar experience, with XP.

You can confirm the NEC is good, by install the NEC drive in PC and run Nero.

  3. I was originally going to get a LG but read how they dont work well externally but that the NEC does work well so I have a feeling it is my case. I am interested in knowing of any good cases to buy for external slim drives.

  4. I think there are only two chip sets for USB to IDE. So read your's off, and goto new eggs or compusa and buy one that uses the other chip set.
