What audio format? Because VDub will for instance throw up the VBR warning for VBR aac audio. It isn't just limited to mp3.

When VDub "complains" about the audio I use Nandub.

If I run into VBR audio, I save it out as a WAV and either encode it separately or re-encode it to CBR audio and mux it back in, then do my editing: http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/ExtractAudio.htm

Nandub is the main reason for the VBR audio that everyone is complaining about in the first place.

Trying to edit a VBR file with Nandub will still give you an out of sync video unless you fix it correctly beforehand.
