  1. I use shrink and decrypter to backup my dvds. This is no problem, I can play these in my dvd player no problem.

I have a set of dvd files (tv shows) I've downloaded, and load into shrink - it analyzes the folder like a normal dvd, i then hit the Backup button to back up the movie with shink and burn with decrypter. The final dvd won't play in my standalone like ALL my 1:1 copies I've made using the EXACT same method. However, when i put the disc in my PC after burning, it loads with media player classic like a normal dvd, menus work, etc.

So, why doesnt' this work? thanks

    Bad disc?

    Try a different brand.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

What brand of Media are you using? Also which DVD player is it the Apex 500 in your profile? Are the TV shows PAL? maybe the Apex Doesn't play PAL files.

Here's a link to what the Apex will and will not play.

  4. This player is the culprit: http://www.symphonic.us/products/dvd/wf104.html

    things to mention:

    1. like I said, my 1:1 copies work perfectly, the media is not at fault here, the downloaded files are (supposedly) the cause of my problems.

    2. having said that, it must be PAL compatibility issues like Bodyslide pointed out. How can I convert to NTSC and then burn to a compatible format? thanks.
