  1. i have a video which is 352x240 29.970fps avg.bitrate 1152kb/sec (from file information in virtualdub)

    will i attain better quality of i convert with the supervideoCD(NTSC) template or videoCD (NTSC)

    that actually sounds a lot like a VCD standard stream you got there....but if it isn't an mpg file...go to VCD...and read the blue things to the left before asking questions like this in the future....

  3. yes it is a downloaded mpg. but apparently i still have to convert it with tmpgenc because there is no picture if i just burn it to disc.

  4. In order for SVCD to work well, you need a really clean source. If you are encoding a DVD rip, then SVCD will be great. But if you have a captured source, say from VHS, then you will need to significantly clean it up before encoding to SVCD. It's not easy, but possibly, and quite amazing when you pull it off!

  5. thanks for the replys the finished result of the vcd is ok some of the closeups are a bit blocky but ill try some of the recommended settings on tmpg. one more question when burning using 1x as opposed to 4x bring better video quality?

    It sounds to me like all you need do is remultiplex to a VCD compliant program stream. Reencoding would be time consuming and pointless, as it can only result in a further loss of quality.

    Sounds like to me you just burn in regular data file mode, instead of choosing videoCD type option within your burning software application. Did you check the "How to" section to your left, and look on how to burn mpg?
