  1. Hello
I have yet to make a DL DVD with Toast 7.0x/Pioneer DVD-RW 110D

I recall a long time ago there were issues with ?bookmaks/bookleafs on when the writer would know to begin recording on the second layer.

Ive searched for this thead and can't find it. perhaps it was before toast 7?

my firmware is the original as it won't update in terminal ( that was a previous thread) and the speed is not a concern for me ( note: Im, not planning on making a lot of back ups!)

anyway, would some of the regulars direct me to the thread on how to this properly without wasting a blank?

cheers and sorry for being an antique on this matter

    cheers

  2. Without reading the other topic you mentioned, but with my own experience, you MUST update the firmware in order to not make dual layer coasters. Here, is a forum thread on my dual layer fiasco:

    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=286468

That drive and the new firmware subject is mentioned 2/3 of the way down after I bought it. The software for flashing the firmware is here:

    http://lasvegas.rpc1.org/

To get the latest firmware files, go here:

    http://wwwbsc.pioneer.co.jp/product-e/ibs/device_e/dev00001r_e.html#firmware1

    I hope that helps.

Your heading states 10.3.8 (which doesn't work with Toast 7) but your signature states 10.3.9 so I'm guessing that's accurate. Be sure to use Verbatim DVD+R DL media and not the Memorex DL media.

Toast sets the layer break and tells the drive to start burning the second layer.

  4. thanks

    yes its 10.3.9

Ive downloaded the flasher and the pioneer info and tried again and got this in terminal:

Last login: Tue Jun 27 09:39:54 on ttyp1
    Welcome to Darwin!
    [DFTs-Computer:~] dft% cd Desktop/DVRFlash
    [DFTs-Computer:~/Desktop/DVRFlash] dft% ./DVRFlash -vf PIONEER RA100010.141 RA100110.141
    tcsh: ./DVRFlash: Command not found.
    [DFTs-Computer:~/Desktop/DVRFlash] dft%

any more tips? I put the two pioneer files in "DVRFlash" on the desktop:

    the two RA files above.

    still something is not working

    any help appreciated.

  5. Did you double click the dvrflash icon first? I always do that first... then run the command in a different terminal session. I've done this a few times and this is how I always do it:

    1. Make sure the DVRFlash folder is on the desktop and that the latest firmware files are inside that folder.
    2. Double-click the DVRFlash icon.
    3. Start a new terminal session and paste the following command:

./DVRFlash -vf PIONEER RB100011.139 RB100111.139 (from the previous version of the firmware)

    4. It will show a progress in the terminal.
    5. Done.
    6. Reboot.
    7. Go to the system profiler and checker the burner's firmware.
