Hi all im trying to convert a MKV. file to a AVI. file using virtualmod.
But when i open the file into virtualdub i get the following message.

[!] MKV: The video may have a variable framerate. If so we strongly advise you
to use another tool to safely process your file.

[!] Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'ÿÿÿÿ' (unknown).
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to
decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media
Player, are not suitable. Only 'Direct stream copy' is available for this
    video.

its the first time i have ever had a problem like this i have the following software

    VirtualDubMod 1.5.10
    MKVextractGUI
    mkvmerge GUI
River Past Video Cleaner Pro 6.8 (but im not very experienced with this and my last file came out at 4.3 gig in size with just above mpeg 2 quality)

    Also the following codec packs

    Xvid MPEG-4 Codec
    XP Codec Pack
    Matroska Pack Full v1.1.2

Is there a codec im missing so this can be easily remided.

    Please Help

VDubMod's mkv support is out of date (even has a warning). Your problem (other than the VFR) is that the file uses native AVC which VDubMod can't handle.
