Hi, I have a VOB file from my dad's video camera that I want to be able to edit in Adobe Premier Pro.

I always lose the audio when importing it onto the timeline. I think - from reading this site - that I need to demux the file, to split it into video and audio. I have tried this using TMPGEnc, as suggested, but, despite getting to files output, the audio file is always silence.

Any ideas what I may be going wrong?

    Hi andyleates,

Versions of Premiere Pro before 2 (the very recent and latest version) don't handle VOBs and / or MPEG files very well, if at all.

Before making any further suggestions, the following info will be of use from you:

    1) What version of Premiere Pro are you using?
    2) When you say you have a VOB file that you want to edit - what exactly are you looking to do? Simple trimming or complex transitions and effects? Describe in detail...

    Hi

I have Adobe Premier Pro v7.

The vob files I have are from my dad's video camera, which burns directly onto mini DVD's.

I am looking to cut out some of the rubbish from the file (it's of my wedding)

As it's purely cutting (or trimming, in effect) you'll have much more luck with a dedicated MPEG editor. Examples include: Video Redo, Cuttermaran, Mpg2Cut2, MPEG-VCR or MPEG Video Wizard DVD to name the commonly recommended ones... They're in the "Tools" section, "Video Editors (MPG/DVD)" category.

I hope that helps. Good luck...
