I want to convert an ogm movie I have to another basic video format such as avi, wmv, mov etc. However this ogm file comes with an sub and I want the sub to show up when I convert the file. Basically what I am asking is, is there a way to make it so when I convert the file and lets say send it to a friend, all he has to do is open the avi file or what have you and the subs will be there? Is this at all possible? any help or advice would be great.

Thanks for the reply, I did look that over however maybe I misunderstood it. Doesn't it just make the sub an .srt file that will play along with the avi? Im looking for a way to combine them so if I send to a friend or upload to a site its all there. lol im new to all this so forgive my ignorance.

If you want to make permanent subs that will be part of the video: https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=272736

If you hard code or make them permanent, then you need to re-encode the video. OGM video is usually Xvid, so normally all you need to do is convert the ogg or other format audio to MP3, mux it back with the video and extract the subs to a .srt file.

And since this thread is really about subtitles, moving you to our subtitle forum.

You should see a lot of information about subtitles and how to work with them.
