    I have nero 7 and when i open it to convert and burn my video to dvd i dont have the option to do so. the only options i have are vcd and svcd. am i missing something ? my friend has the same nero and he has the option to burn as a dvd as well as vcd and svcd. any help is greatly appreciated.

    Nero can do what you want, but it is like cutting down a tree with a butter knife. It's not the right tool. Use virtualdub, or tmpgenc, or any other real encoding software. Even convertxtodvd is better than nero...

    Ok, this is a really stupid question... but since VCD and SVCD are CD-R formats... are you sure you have selected your DVD drive? Are you sure it BURNS DVDs and not just reads them (like my work laptop does)?
