For some reason when downloading on my Laptop there is some sort of limit. Its like I'm only allowed to download 50-60 MB and then WAN disconnects automatically from my Laptop only. This also happens when I want to transfer a file from the main computer, it reaches half way and then disconnects. I've tried it on another computer I have and there were no problems what so ever and there was no limit on downloading too. If it helps I'm using an Acer Laptop.

We just covered something along these lines today.

Basically, see if it's a cable on the bad computer; if that fails, try a new NIC (and also using another port on your switch/router, if applicable). Finally, look at replacing the switch/router. -
You will probably want to wait for your question to be answered. Bumping your topic only shows your impatience. Escpecially on a weekend, there's less chance of your question being answered quickly.
Check your internet settings on the laptop and desktop. You may have some timeout issues.
Do these transfer cutoffs happen with your web browser? general file transfer (folder to folder)? Any other types, like FTP?
Does it happen with the same files, or are they different files every time (when it cuts off)?
Does it only drop during file transfer, or does it happen during surfing or anything else (say, viewing streaming video)?
Maybe try something like TweakUI to view (and set) some hidden features in XP. -
Well when I transfer a file it reaches half way and stops completely. When donwloading in a P2P program eg BitComet I get to download 50-60 MB and then the monitor in the tray (bottom right side of the explorer) stops, changing from the Blue light that it emitts to a dead black colour. As I've said earlier I've got another computer and when I transfer a file it does not disconnect and there is no downloading limit like my Laptop. I used the same file and transferred it to each CPU. Results:
Laptop - Fail reaches halfway
Desktop - Successful
I think there is some sort of limit on this Laptop cause it disconnects at the same exact place and same amount of MBs recieved (50-60 MB) -
Have you checked your hardware profile on your laptop? It may be cutting you off to conserve power. It is very useful to have two hardware profiles on laptops. One for when the laptop is plugged into power or into a docking station, and one for when it is not.

Hardware profile? Exactly where do I find that? And I don't know about power conserving but I recently uninstalled one of Acer's "Empowering Management" something to do with power management. It really sucked cause you can't modify anything. If thats the problem then how do I get to re-install it? Thanks!

If you can transfer between your two LAN computers with no disconnects then the problem is very likely to be with your router.

I had the same problem. A check on the routers web site revealed that there was a FW update.
Installed the FW update and the problem was fixed.
Moral of the story - check for a router FW update.
