  1. Hi,

I've been trying to figure out how to rip dvds to my hard drive using the stream processing for the correct audio and video streams, and then I would like to use it as a DVD.

so, I looked into Ulead DVD factory and couldn't find a way to make my VOB file (from the rip) back into a DVD.

I can play the VOB file with my media player, but having it as a DVD is preferrable for a number of reasons.

    any help is appreciated.

  2. The best way to do this...I usually use smartripper to rip the elementary streams(m2v & ac3) directly from the dvd, then multiplex the two together into a vob file. Once that is finished you can use a program like DVDwise which will allow you to simulate a dvd on your hard drive(basically it will split the vob into segments that are 976MB each, also it creates .ifo & .BUP files. This takes maybe 30 minutes depending on your computer. After the process is complete you will have two folders AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS. You can either use a software player like WinDVD to play that straight from the hard drive or use a program like DVD Gear Pro if you have a DVD Burner. If you have a DVD burner just open up DVD Gear Pro. Create a UDF project then drag the AUDIO_TS & VIDEO_TS folders to that project and burn the DVD.

    Hope this helps you out...

  3. Thanks,

I'll look into that method. I've been looking into using IFOEdit to help with some of this, but preliminary results are not good so far. So I'll try out your suggestion(s).

The playing of the disc is not a problem for me, I can handle that. The difficulty is just shrinking the DVD during or after ripping and having it in a compliant DVD format at some point after that.

    hopefully I'll GET it.
