    Hello Everyone!!!!!

    Guys I have a problem.
    I have an AVI video in XVID format.

    Length : 24 minutes
    FPS : 29.97
    Resolution : 512x384 Pixels
    Bitrate: 1000 Kbps

    The video runs perfectly for 3 minutes. The after it the video begins to lag behind the audio. And this lagging increases with increase in time. At the ending the video lags about 20 seconds behind the audio.

    Is there any way to synchronize the audio with video.
    Please help me to solve this problem.

    I will be sciencerly thankful to you..

    You might drop it into VirtualDub Mod or the regular VD and scan the video stream for errors. From what you describe, it sounds like a corrupted file, with some video frames missing. You may be able to edit out the bad parts or resave it and fix the problem.

    I hope you are not previewing in vdub ... after a while it dose lag even though it is complete sync .

    For the other issue :

    Audio that get's more out of sync (ahead) as video play's is caused by such conversion's as 24fps to 25fps ...(lower to higher)

    Behind is caused by such conversion's as 25fps to 24fps ... (higher to lower)

    1: Open avi in vdub
    2: Hold ctrl and press R
    3: in second edit box in new window , set fps to what the original clip was (hopefully you still have it) ... if not ... take a guess (may take a couple of crack's at it) .

    4: Set both video and audio to "direct stream copy"
    5: Save as avi .

    Now use a program that dose do a framerate conversion correctly .

    Mine is ulead video studio 9 ... se version's in ebay cheap ... packed with many feature's ... a bargain .
    The newer version of super is getting close ... so it get's 3 banana's ...

    Feature's super should have ... maybe oneday :

    24fps or "do not frame convert" option ... maybe they'll get the point soon .

    ========================

    Audio sync caused by dropped frame's during initial recording are a nightmare to fix accurately ... only patience , coffee and good quality drug's will help ... or was that plenty of sleep ... I cant read my doctor's scribble either ... lol

    My method here is to ensure pc can record video without dropping any frame's with audio recording disabled ... get this done first .
    Audio is recorded by external device and imported later .

    Add 5 second's of audio (same frequency) to start and end of audio ... export as wav at 44.1hz , 16bit , stereo .

    Open video in vdub .
    Under audio , set to full processing . then sellect wav audio , and locate this edited wav .
    Hold ctrl and hit I .
    Audio scew , add -5000 (5 second's) to pull audio backwards .
    Preview for a few second's to see if start is in sync .

    If not , adjust by add 100 to push audio forward or -100 to pull backwards .
    Preview as you go ... when start is ok , that's enough audio scew adjustment .

    Go to edit - beginning
    Down below in vdub's gui are two arrow looking button's , they are frame lock's ... hit the left one (first frame of clip is now locked in)
    Go to edit - end ... hit that lock button on the right .

    Set video to direct stream copy
    Set audio to full processing (should already be this)
    Set audio compression to mpeg layer 3 (48kbit/s 24,000 hz , 6 kb/s)

    File - save as avi

    When done , play test , it should be fine ... delete all non-essential file's related to project and enjoy .

    Will check ...

    First part is aligned ... second part is not ... caused by frame corruption during encode .

    I suspect in order to assist with this file I would need the complete original source ...

    But , for now the only thing you can do is :

    1 : Cut the "insync" part out as an avi .
    2 : This is tricky here ... dealing with second part ...

    Go to point where video frame corruption is nolonger present .
    Come back 50 frame's , and hit left "frame lock" button .
    Go to end of clip ... and hit "right lock" button .
    Save this now as avi .

    From the audio source info , it is not stretched ... so you only need to use audio scew .

    Open this last saved avi .
    The audio appear's to be playing ahead of video here .

    Go to audio scew and add value 1000 (push forward) , try preview ..
    Not far enough ? ... add another 1000 , and preview again .

    When getting close :

    Add 100 (push forward) ... preview
    Use negative value's to bring audio back ... -1000 , -100 .

    When close ... "it is almost pointless to use value's below 100" ... save as avi .

    You may now use the append method of joining the clip's back together .

    Video and audio set to direct stream copy ... save as avi .

    ==================

    Unfortunately , there is not much that can be done about that missing piece ... but a number of option's are available .

    To add fadeout / fadein ... wax2 , dvdslideshowgui , slideshow movie movie maker ... simplest method is with ulead video studio ... not only handle's video transition's but audio fadeout / fadein as well to match ...

    Can be done with slide show movie make ... but it's a little complicated ... for me it's simple ...

    ==================

    Here in au :

    Of course with the advent of sdtv / hdtv about to drop on use here in au ... these problem's will become more of an issue ..

    Many a time I have sat down to watch sbs or abc in hd (the only currently au sd / hd channel's available till 06/12/06 ... no guarantee of service availabilty at that time either) ... only to have sudden pixelization , blue screen breakup , lose of video but audio ok ... really p### me off ... and in the good part's most often .

    I'd be going nutt's clipping this stuff ... never stopping .

    We still have no idea as to the final signal type channel's 7 , 9 , and 10 will broadcast in ... and most sd unit's cannot decode hd format .

    =================

    My only guess is I'll be called out more often to not only trouble shoot pc's , game console's , internet connection's , bussiness network's , dvd / vhs player's ... tuning setup's with no manual's available ... figuring out what the heck the tech though when they were hooking up cable's , especially for topset box's ...

    My brain is running 24/7 ... and so dose the phone ...
