  1. I've dug out some old huge imported DV avi videos which were imported using Windows movie maker about 5 years ago. I remember at the time they played perfectly on windows xp at that time. I'm now trying to convert them to xvid or mp4, each time I convert one, the resulting video plays correctly but the audio sounds about 1.5x too fast?

    Another strange problem is that plain the original DV avi shows the video slightly too fast, but the audio sounds perfect???
    I've played with audio and video or years but this one has got me confused.

    I you have any ideas I'd love to hear about them.

    try using winDV to capture the tape. if there is no change then use mediainfo on the DVavi file and post the text mode results here so we can see them. it could be a 12/16 bit audio problem.

    looks like it must have been saved as type I avi. most windows programs expect type II. maybe converting it to type II would help. try dvdate, it's free and can do the job.
