If you look at this page
http://www.ulead.com/learning/dmf/dmf5_03_1.htm
You will see that there are not many choices to choose, so I don't need to scroll to under.
The template-library is so poor

Is it a downloaded version or trial version? The trial version is going to have limited extra content and with the downloaded version of Video Studio the extra content is an additional download so if you downloaded it you may have to download the addtional templates. Should be a link for it withion the program if that is the case.
Been a while since I've used MF but that's one of the limitations it used to have . You can only customize the current templates and that's limited to changing colors and the like, from your link it looks as if you can change the position of the placeholders now as well. I wouldn't expect or be looking for the ability to place custom placeholders in any version within the near future.
If you want full cutomization abilities look into getting DVD Workshop.
