new here stopping in to say hi. thanks for all the useful posts so far

I am new to vegas, using Sony Vegas Pro 8.0c to edit AVCHD files. I want to upload to youtube in HD so I am rendering to MPEG2 using th HDV 1080-60i template.

I have multiple audio tracks, but the rendered video is missing all audio other than that with the original video file. Is there some setting I should change?

I have tried multiple things & have been searching for a while but still no luck. It has to be an easy fix, right?

hdv can only have one audio track.
youtube would throw out the others anyway.
youtube would prefer you upload mp4 with one aac audio track.

try the sony avc template with it custom set to 1280x720p - around 5-6mbps is usually enough.

I cant seem to get any good to come out of mp4. the quality is horrible, not sure what I'm doing wrong.

I don't want/need more than one audio track when rendered, is there a way to combine them?

i use the sony avc encoder in vegas 9pro and get good results. i don't know why you can't. in pro8 there should also be the mainconcept mp4 encoder you could try.

i don't think vegas can combine audio. you could try exporting the tracks as wav and using an audio editor to do it. sound forge or audacity.

If you have all the audio loaded onto separate timelines and none of them muted, they should be mixed down to a single output.

thats what I want, but it's not happening. I can render it as a .wmv & all the audio works, but cant seem to get it with any of the main concept mpgs

    surely there is a way,

basically it will export my L & R audio from the .mts file, but not my added song or sound effects

these render settings are pretty much standard for this template. I have tried quite a few variations.

I am able to render an .ac3 audio file and all the audio works. Is there a way to combine my .m2t (video) and .ac3 (audio) files & get them on youtube?

youtube really only wants progressive video. you might try setting the project options de-interlacing to interpolate fields. then output 1280x720p avchd with a high enough bitrate (over 5mbps) to make it look ok.
