I was told my DV may have an error preventing authoring so the tool DivFix was recommended. Now, DivFix is throwing an error "I/O error 112". There's no site to this tool. How do I fix the fixer?
    Thx

I'd try VirtualDub or VDMod. Just add a DV codec to open the file, then scan the video stream for errors. You can also resave the DV if you use a DV codec like the Panasonic DV codec, and that may correct any problems. I never had much luck with DivFix. VD seems to do a better job.

You can also frameserve it from VD to TMPGEnc encoder if you plan on converting to DVD. That saves some hard drive space. And it will work sometimes if the encoder won't accept the file directly. If you don't have a DV codec installed, that might be the error also. It could also be a Type 1/Type 2 error, but your program should have told you that.

Hm? DivFix (I haven't tried the newest version that was recently reported in the Tools section, though) has the site 'http://divfix.maxeline.com/divfix.html' plastered all over it. Help > About also gives a contact email.

But, yeah, I agree with redwudz - it's probably best to go with VDub/Mod anyway, especially since you're working with DV. DivFix worked okay enough for me, but I think it's only really for DivX/XVid videos.

I just scanned video stream for errors in vDub
I'm taking it's supposed to report if it finds problems...which it hasn't.
Anyone have a guide for debugging DV?
    Thx

You could try this: Install the Panasonic DV Codec if you don't have it, then In VDM, resave the video to DV format. That may fix it in the process or rewriting it. You can also frameserve it through VDM to TMPGEnc encoder as that sometimes works when you can't directly add it.

DV is pretty much a fixed format. I've never had any problems with it unless the original file was corrupted. If I want to do a quick conversion to DVD, I use ConvertXToDVD or the older freeware DivxToDVD.

You mentioned authoring. I'm assuming you are encoding it to MPEG-2. If it's compliant MPEG-2, authoring should not be a problem. I usually convert the audio to AC3 with ffmpeggui then add it back in when authoring.

Thanks...interesting. Yes...those are good aps. I've never had any prob with DV either. Turns out, this suggestion that a clip was corrupted was hogwash. That's the only reason I used DivFix....or rather didn't use it.
I was informed that MF4 wants to use MS DV codec which doesn't show on my dropdown in MSP. Now I'm wondering why.

I like it when I get lost and don't care
