I have a Panasonic DMR ES10 DVD recorder that after just one year won't power up any more. For about 2 weeks prior it was running a "self check" at every start up and then one morning it wouldn't turn on. I've heard that Panasonic is generally a good brand of DVD Recorder, but I am kinda jaded now. Any suggestions? Fix it or Toss it and buy another brand? And what brand and model to buy? Thanks!

You might want to check how close to one year you have actually had it. The ES10 has a one year parts and labor warranty.
