  1. It's been a long time since I messed with any video stuff so sorry for the stupid question in advance.
I captured a movie with DVD Shrink. What program can I use to capture a 30 second clip off one of the VOB files? I tried the Ulead Video studio I had and it said the file was incompatible.
    Thanx

  3. Is verbiage really that important? I COPIED a movie to my hard drive.
I only need 30 seconds of it for a report.

    Verbage?

Never heard of such a thing. Capturing and ripping are two separate processes. If you can not explain your situation clearly or use words that do not relate to the program used you must expect people to ask questions. nobody can help you if they have no idea what you are talking about.

  5. So what you are saying is you don't know how to capture 30 seconds of video out of a VOB file, I can accept that.... Is there anyone else out there that might be able to help me?

You could use VOB2MPEG and convert the whole video to one large MPEG. Or if your final format is AVI, you can chop out what you want with VirtualDub Mod. Or look here for more ways: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=224833

And you might want to drop that video into Gspot 2.52 to see if it's really incompatible.

And you will get better answers if you ask better questions, and in particular use a topic that describes your problem, other than, 'I forgot how'.

  7. redwudz, thank you for your help, While I could not get VOB2MPG to recognize the VOB either, I have an old copy of WINAVI that was able to convert the VOB to mpeg then I was able to pull out the clip I needed. Thanx!
