    Hi!

Hope this post is in the right spot! I am trying to edit AVI Videos; trying to "trim" unwanted sections of the files, from the beginning & ends. Did plenty of searching, came up with quite a few programs, but none that will do "trimming" that I want.

Also, any of the programs able to "fade to black" at the end of the movie/clip? I am working w/ music videos & others that I have been creating.

Thanks for any help you can offer this newbie!!!

  2. You need to step into the world of avisynth, This will do everything you've asked, Trim, Fadein/out video and audio, And a whole lot more.

But if your just cutting bits out of the avi, Virtualdub will do this, Without re'encoding the avi, Mark the parts you want to cut out, Then select direct stream copy on video and audio and save avi.

    Just a thought ...

1: Vdub to split it up
2: Then use slide show movie maker to generate the fade out effect .

You will need 2 avi clip's to do this second part ...
Use same output codec's as used by your original avi video ... a must .

3: In vdub , slice the fade part out of avi created by slideshow movie maker , and keep it .
4: Now "append" all required avi section's , in correct order , then set video to "direct stream copy" , and audio to "direct stream copy" ... save as avi ... give it new name and wait till done .

Done ... easy when you know how .
