I have a pretty high quality Mpeg video file, and I wanted to cau off some parts of it that i don't need, but when i open it in virtualDub and try to play it it gives me this message:
No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the aource audio format (source format tag 2000)
I checked this file with AVI codec and it gives this details:
Video codec: Mpeg 2 {SVCD/DVD}
Audio codec: Mpeg-1 audio Layer 2 [0xc0]
Please tell me someone what is the problem, and how can i fix it, please.

Use virtualdubmod or virtualdub-mpeg2 when working with mpeg files. However you need to remember that none of the virtualdubs can natively encode mpeg2 video, so depending on what you do, you may have to frameserve to an encoder.
Read my blog here.

I did use VirtualDub Mpeg2, and it was the one who gave me the error. And VBMode still played it with no sound too.

Tag 2000 is AC3. You need the AC3ACM from fcchandler.
