I'm using the new freeware DR Divx 2.0b to convert episodes from a DVD to divx6 format. I'm retaining the secondary commentary track and the subs. The 2 discs total of 8 episodes work well except for the first one on disc1 which has a constant 750 ms video lag (the audio plays 750ms before the video through the whole episode after conversion). DR Divx does not have an adjustment for this that I can find.

I can fix this quickly after the fact with the latest virtualdub 1.6.15 but it removes the second audio track and it also loses the subs. Virtualdubmod keeps the second audio track but complains about the subs saying it is overwriting track 3 and drops the subs.

Any other progs can fix this lag on audio track 1 and not touch the rest?

Ok I thought up a solution which works but if anyone has a more straightforward way please still post it.

I used VSRIP to pull the (CC) sub from the original vts_01_1.ifo

I used AVISUB and loaded the sync'd avi which I had created with virtualdubmod because it contained the 2 audio but not the subs and I loaded the idx file which was extracted by VSRIP. There were also files named sub,srt and raw in the same directory but I don't know if it used those automatically or not. I then created the new divx.

I tested it first with the divx software player and it worked fine. I wrote the file to DVD+RW to test on my Philips DVP-642 and the subs and 2 audio tracks work great. This is the first time I've tried imbedded subs in an avi on my DVD-642 and am surprised at how well they work. I was always led to believe that the subs had to be in a separate srt file with the same name as the avi but obviously that is not the case. Imbedded subs work well with this player.

btw) if anyone wants to comment on the DVP-642 player and subs it's still on topic for me.
