    Hi.

I have a .WMV HDTV movie trailer file (dimensions: 1440x1080) and want to convert it to AVI, then to MPEG2 format at the highest quality, or maybe (if it is better) directly from WMV to MPEG2. Is that possible?

    Thx.

Why ? Any lossy encoding causes some degree of image degradation and quality loss. They question then is - what are you going to play this back on ? To put them on DVD will require resizing down to almost a quarter their current resolution, as well as re-encoding.

Right, I know the drawbacks, but I want to play that trailer on a stand alone DVD player and not on my PC. The fact is I want to see it on my parents new LCD TV.

I can always take my laptop with s-video out, but it is not as confortable as carrying a DVD disc.

  5. TMPGEnc or NeroVision will keep the proper aspect ratio.
