Hi there, been using SVCD2DVD quite happily for ages now.
Have just come across a problem though, converting an avi, which seems no different to other ones i've converted in the past, the thing is ffmpeg.exe is eating memory, it had only processed 20% and memory usage was over 1.5gb.
My pc is a dual-processor and i've never had this problem before, but ffmpeg.exe obviously eats too much memory and then causes an error.
The whole process completes, but i'm left with a 1.5gb folder as opposed to the usual 4.3gb one.
Any ideas ?
Thanks,
Azza_b

I suspect the avi is corrupt. Does this happen on other avi files?

Nope, as i said, all my conversions have been working fine so far, up until now...
I don't however have any reason why the avi file would be corrupt...
It plays fine on WMP, and it was obtained via the same sources that all my other avi files have come from...
Is there any way to limit the amount of memory the process uses ?

I'm just performing another AVI > DVD conversion now, and strangely enough ffmpeg.exe just hovers at around 13.5mb of memory usage. OK it's consuming a lot of CPU power performing the conversion, but the memory usage is very stable, so i'm wondering how it ballooned to over 1.5GB performing the other conversion.
I'm going to try a different version of the same AVI i had problems with, maybe it was corrupt, although i'm a bit confused as to why it plays fine in various players...

If the memory is balloning then it is a sign that there is something wrong with the source file. Maxing the CPU is a good thing and to be expected!
