I recently purchased a DVD movie that plays perfectly on my old "Shinco" DVD but when I put it on my PC's DVD drive ---- the computer (Running Windows XP pro) recognises it as blank DVD. I tried ISO buster Pro and it also reports the DVD as blank.
Can some one please help me understand -- whats the trick ??

Try it it on another computer / dvd drive. If it wont recognise it then return it and get a new one.
It is a commercial dvd movie? no crap pirated one? -
I have a Pioneer DVD writer and a Asus DVD drive --- both report the DVD as blank. Where as it plays perfect on DVD player.
It is not a comercial DVD movie --- a cheap copy ---- but I want to understand the reason for this strange phenomenon. -
No strange phenomena, dvdr media doesn't work on all dvd players and pc dvd drives. Check our dvd media list for example...lots of crappy media...
does other dvdr works fine your computer? -
Never had a problem with either of my PC dvd drives earlier ---- infact it was other way round --- a number of dvds that wont play on my old DVD player would always easily play on my PC !!!
