REAL TIME ENCODE

A little question, there is in commerce an HW can perform real time rendering AVI --> Mpeg at reasonable cost ??, i use TMPENG on my P4 1,5 GHZ and the conversion is very slow at max quality about 5X.

I am looking for the same thing. A speedy system to run TMPGEnc. I remember reading someone converting it with 2X the video time using a Athlon XP 1800+ system.

There has been debates about Intel vs. AMD processor's ability to do a better job. I don't want to stir up another round of hot discussion here. Personally, I still believe dual Athlon XP can do a really good job supported by a not-so-sound article below:

Since someone claims that XP 1800+ requires only 2X the time. The Dual Processor AMD Athlon XP system might do something closed to 1X?

Correct me if I am wrong.

P.S.: Although TMPGEnc later version is using SSE2 instructions only can be found in P4, but I can't see any advantage without so far. Probably improvement in software coding optimized for a particular processor is the final solution.
