  1. Just got a new hdtv at best buy, haven't taken it out of the box yet cause I want to have a few questions cleared up first.

The tv I got was a Magnavox 32mf231d. I have been hearing that some hdtv's aren't HDCP compatible, but when I asked the employee (yea I know) if it was, he said that they all have to be. So my question is this, Is this tv HDCP compatible (it has HDMI) or is there a list of compatible tv's that I can check?

There was another tv there made by westinghouse but I had never heard of that brand, is it any good?

I have also checked other sites like walmart, they have a 32" sanyo for $897 (I spent $1000 on the magnavox) Is this a good price? Whats a good brand? Is it ok to shop for a tv at walmart?

I guess all my questions really come down to is, for about $1000, I would like to get a tv that is thin, widescreen, hdtv, at least 32" but I would like maybe something around 36", I don't require a tuner or dvd built in but that would be nice, and I would like it to be HDCP compatible and have HDMI inputs.

One last question I promise. HDMI has both the audio and video signal correct? So if I have a dvd player with HDMI, I will take the HDMI cable and plug that into the tv, but does that mean that for my surround sound that I will be need to have optical or coaxial for the sound? Are there going to be surround sound units that not only have HDMI connections, but are also HDCP compatible?

Sorry if I seem a little dumb about buying a tv, I just want to get my moneys worth and that I wouldn't have to buy another tv down the road just to watch High def DVD's.
