I have a bunch of avi files that I want to store on a DVD. I want to put as much as I can on each DVD. AVI's are much smaller files than MPEG-2's. Do I have to convert the files to MPEG-2 or can I just burn the AVI's onto the disc? Would using a DVD-RAM disc work?

If you just want to store them for later use on your pc you can just burn them as data no problem. IF you want to WATCH them on your dvd player it has to say its DIVX COMPATIBLE. Otherwise you have to convert them to mpeg2 and author the dvd so the normal dvd player will read them.

I have Nero 6, but don't see choices of making just a data disc. Is there another program I should use?

Thanks, I never used StartSmart, so I didn't even know it was there. This will make things much easier.
