Just a quick question:
When you capture with the pvr 250 to an mpeg 2 video file, does the video need anything doing to it (re-encoding in tmpg or anything else) or would i be able to author a dvd straight away using spruce-up or any similar authoring software

The PVR 250 and 350 come with a dvd authoring software know as Ulead DVD MovieFactory so you don't need buy it.

yeah i know it comes with ulead dvd moviefactory, but ive tried it already and didnt like it. It doesnt give you enough freedom when making menus and also doesnt support surround sound

The PVR-250 does make a "compliant" mpeg-2 file for burning a DVD with the included Ulead DVD Moviefactory software without any remuxing. You can also trim the mpeg-2 file with the included Nanocosmos trimmer.
Just remember, you should download the sync patch from Ulead for DVD Moviefactory. It will make sure you don't get any audio out of sync problems. -
thanks for the info. Where do i get the this patch for it? Also have you tried using a different authoring program? Ive got spruce-up, dvdit pe and ulead dvd workshop to play with
