  1. When I try to launch preview of any extracted VIDEO__TS or vob, I see the icon for mplayer flash in the dock and then it disappears.

I am running this on a Intel Mac Mini.

    Any ideas or troubleshooting steps?

Were you encoding when pressing Preview? If not, try Play instead.

  3. I was not encoding while hitting preview. It does the same thing when I hit the Autocrop button as well. The mplayer icon appears, then disappears.

    Edit.

  5. Ok. So this is different then the previous version behavior where ffmpegx would show you the crop outline while showing the movie?

And I am still unclear about the Preview button. This is in the 'Filters' tab. I do not understand the logic of previewing AFTER youstart encoding, especially since I use it to do things like check audio and subtitle selections. What use is there is starting an encoding before previewing? Or am I missing something?

You are right. Just checked, and that's how it works for me with 0.0.9w_r4. No quit/crash here with VOBs.

Ah, I thought you meant the other Preview button. Sorry.

  7. No problem.

    So here you say:

So you mean: you get the preview of the VOB with the crop outline and no crash? Are you using an Intel-based Mac? Perhaps, a Mini? Of a G4/5? I am curious if this is related to Intel or not. I am using v0.0.9w_r3.

Let me see if r4 might have fixed it.

    Thanks.

  8. I think I figured it out. I removed the /Library/Application Support/ffmpegx directory and reinstalled it. Now I can get the preview. However, when I close the window with the close window widget in the upper right-hand corner, I get a hard crash of mplayer:

Mplayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: uninit_vo

    Also says:

    FIXME: Hardenabling....

Looks like a bug in r3. Let's see if r4 does better....

  9. The preview window should be closed by hitting the ENTER key instead of clicking the red circle, as mplayer implemented the closing in this way.
