  1. I bought a zalman cooler, the copper one with the blue LED that sits with the fan parallel to the motherboard, the stock cooler used to cool it fine, w/o the computer beeping, i have changed the coolers back and forth multiple times and the temperatures just dont seem to want to go back down, i was wondering if anybody had any advice, i am using arctic silver 5 which helped but my pc tends to start beeping when it gets to 54 55 C and i did change the bios so it would warn me to 65 C and shut down at 70C. thanks

    Hi econtrerasguzman,

Is the base unit situated in a place such that air can EASILY get in through the case, and out from inside the case? i.e. there's nothing blocking the free flow of air into and out from the case.

In addition to the CPU fan, you could attach fans to the case itself - one to blow air in, and one to suck air out. Obviously, place them in such a way that the incoming air has a chance to pass over the internals before being sucked out.

  3. when you do heavy processing and use hte processor a lot, 55 it's not bad, the processor can hold up to 85.

if this happens when it's idle, then use case fans to suck the hot air out.

Zalman is good, but not for overclocking....if you overclock, you better get something like termaltake with 120mm fan, and USE the case fans.

The best heatsink & fan I've used is a SWIFTECH with a VANTEC TORNADO 92mm fan. It's loud like a blow dryer. The sucker keeps my overclocked socket a 462 amd 2400+ mobile cpu very cool. I had to use a fan controller to keep the noise down but it does the job well in keeping the cpu and mobo temps low.

I installed a ZALMAN in my P4 3.00C pc that does well with keeping the cpu cool but if I had to do it over I'd invest in another SWIFTECH heatsink.

I'd suggest replacing the case fans with the VANTEC TORNADO 92mm and 80mm fans if you don't want to invest in another heatsink. You'll need a fan controller if the loudness of the fans irritate you. Just my two cents!

  6. you should clean and re-apply the thermal paste after every change..

  8. Also do not put too much AS. Just put a really thin even layer. If you put too much it will act as an insulator.
