  1. Hi ALL,

I am having trouble finding a DVD authoring software that makes multiple audio tracks. I know DVD LAbs does it, but it does not have video capture/editing. Pinnacle Studio has all the features I need (and a lot of bugs too...) but does not have multiple audio tracks. Does anyone know a good software with all those features?

    Thanks in advance,

    Ricardo

DVD Workshop 2 can capture and I believe has multiple audio tracks - it can't edit though. Vegas+DVD can also capture (through Vegas), and author through DVD Architect with multiple audio tracks.

For the most part though, anything that tries do to everything does nothing very well, as you have discovered with Pinnacle. The best course is always the best tool for each job.

  3. Most video with multiple audio tracks are from a commercial DVD disc. If you are compiling these video together, then you can use DVDshrink3.2 reauthor mode, with video from multiple folders.

1: Use what ever you like to record with .

2: Use besweet for most audio conversion's (belight for 5.1 ac3)

    3: Two flavour's here

Ifoedit for pal source + multiple audio (pal)
    Rejig = same (ntsc)

4: Generate basic or flash menu's with what ever you like (dvdauthorgui)

The basic dvd , will contain all required function's of your menu's , and only need's one small title (everything is linked to it for now) .

    5:

Open pgcedit , new dvd (will ask for folder placement)
Import all title's (copy - is stuff up , you lose nothing)
Now import only the menu for you compilation .
Remap nav command's to suit current project (dont forget menu button's)

Save , play , if all is well , burn and enjoy .

When in playback , keep an eye out for navigational error's ... if they appear , you will know exactly where in you dvd compilation to edit the nav command's in pgcedit to correct value .

    -------------------

    Problem's with mutltiple audio :

Currently only commercial production type program's support multiple type's of audio inclusion .
    This is say , ac3 2 channel + ac3 6 channel + lpcm 2 channel ... more .

In this case , multiple type's of ac3 can be done using rejig or ifoedit , depending of video source .
Each audio track must be exactly the same length , or problem's will accur during playback .

    -------------------

    Product's used : (mine in bracket's)

1: Your favourite video capture product (avertv usb2)
2: Multiple audio generation (belight) , besweet has problem with 5.1 output
    3: Menu generation (dvdauthorgui)
4: Title generation with multiple audio (ifoedit for pal) , (rejig for ntsc) = 8 track's max .
    4b: Also support's multiple subtitle's
5: Putting it all together (pgcedit)

  5. Thanks everybody,

I can tell now that there isnīt a software that do all those things. I will continue to do what I am doing: Capture and Edit with pinnacle, then export the edited video to a MPEG file and then author and join the audio tracks with DVD-lab. I am very used to do this way and learn other software will take too much time.

I'll agree that sole purpose softwares do a better job than most all in ones, but there are also some all in ones that do a good job. Ullead Studio handles multiple tracks, transistions, and the end quality is pretty good. You don't have the options to do multi pass encoding, but if your source is decent, you end up with a decent quality output. Premeire Elements and Vegas Movie Studio are also decent products. I personally use Vegas 5, but have done some siimple short projects using nothing but Ulead Studio, and the results are fine..
