Buying a DVD Recorder

Hi Everyone, I was hoping someone could help me with a DVD Recorder question. I’m buying a DVD Recorder for my Dad for Christmas and he’s specified to me that he wants the Liteon 5045GDL+ model. I am having so much trouble finding this. Everyone seems to do the Liteon 5045 but when it comes to the GDL+ bit, no-one has it.

I live in the UK and have tired the usual places (Curry’s, Comet, Dixons etc) and online, and have come up with nothing but a German site (http://www.ctscomputer.com/) who sells them. But I can’t speak/ understand the site at all so I’m at a loose end... I don’t want to try and buy it and realise I’ve signed up for something silly!

Does anyone know where I can get this particular DVD Recorder?

Hi Khush126, I would like this model also but for now the 5045 GDL model is a European market model, more specifically Germany, not yet on the North American market. It only has the tv system settings for Europe (PAL and SECAM) no NTSC which we would need.

Sorry Khush126, YES it would work in the UK. I didn't read your location, of course it would work in the UK. You're under the PAL tv system. You would need to order it from Germany. Do a search for the model and it will give a couple of german supplier online options.

LiteOn shows this at their US site.So I would bet that it Will be avail in the US when who knows.
It is listed at the below site with 160 gb HDD also a 5055 with a 250 gb HDD

[ crazycrank ] is correct it would seem tha at present it only avail in Germany. This is the only DL unit that looks like stand alone recorder some others like Sony [dirty word] look like worked over external PC units.

It this unit has the correct connections and system I would not hesitate to get it if I wanted

Hi, I live in Poland and I try buy a new model of Liteon - 5055 GDL+. There is not this model in Poland. I found it at German net shop but I don`t speak German and i don`t know what I shoul to buy it. My sister live i Londyn and I asked her to buy me this model in England. Today she was calling me and told me she found model 5045 GDL+ in Dixon shop. It cost 250 F. But there is not Liteon 5055 GDL+ in this shop.

In the UK i can buy the 5045, but not 5045GDL+ or not 5055GDL+.

I found both 5045GDL+ and 5055 GDL+ on the German net shop, like you did. But I don't speak German either, so I phoned this net shop and they speak a little English, so I am going to try and order through them.

Dixons have said they only stock 5045 (which is £250), they told me they don't have the 5045GDL+.

I just looked on thier website too and they don't seem to have the 5045GDL+ on there either.

As far as i know, it's just Germany that stock 5045GDL+ and 5055GDL+.
