  1. Ok, I have NO experience with making DVD's. I know NOTHING about video. Unfortunately I'm very familiar with every other aspect of computing, so I'm the guy that gets asked for help..

Coworker brought me a video he took on vacation. His nephew turned it into the following, which does not play on his home stereo/dvd player.

3 Folders, inside each folder are two more folders, VIDE0_RM and VIDEO_TS. Inside VIDEO_RM folder is VIDEO_RM, (dat file) VIDEO_RM (nero showtime file) and VIDEO_RM.BUP Inside the VIDEO_TS folder is VIDEO_TS, (dat file) VIDEO_TS_01_0 (nero showtime file) VIDEO_TS.BUP, VIDEO_TS_01_0.BUP and VTS_01_1 (nero showtime file)

He has a very recent version of Nero Ultra, I have Nero Ultra 6.6. (Which I've only ever used for making music and data CDs) If someone has the time to tell me how to turn the above mentioned files into a playable DVD using Nero I will be in your debt.

In advance I thank you VERY much. My email address is nick@tigertribe.com and I will also check back here.

    Best regards

    Nick

I tried doing just that, but I got an error, something about it missing some files (I don't have any IFO files) just random VOB files I want to put onto one disc.

I'm new to this DVD thing. When doing a VCD, all I had to do was drag and drop in Nero any encoded MPG files and it worked.

DVDs have a little more complicated structure than VCD or SVCD. See 'what is' DVD to the upper left for the specifications. <<<<<<

Try IFOEdit. It can replace the rest of the necessary DVD files if you just have the VOBs. Then you just burn it.

Ok, same problem I had in "why VIDEO_RM folder ?" in dvdRecorders. The only way to make what you have dvd complient is to download 'TMPGene DVDAuthor' and pass you video files through that program. Forget everything else.
