No demux/mux required for Nero compliant SVCD's. Just capture, edit, and burn Nero compliant SVCD's (XSVCD's get past Nero compliancy checks as well).
I'm having great luck with this combination. Previous versions of MMC had A/V sync problems when editing in Mpeg2VCR. I'm having no sync problems with MMC 7.5 and Mpeg2vcr.
Simply do your MMC 7.5 mpeg2 capture and edit in Mpeg2vcr. When you save your cuts choose the SVCD program stream option. It's a very fast cutting process and does not require a demux/mux. And I'm getting precise edits with VBR which always was a hassle in the past.
It could not be easier.
Also I'm having great results with VBR in MMC 7.5. I capture at 4.4 mps VBR. A typical capture has an average bit rate of around 2.3 mps with peaks up to 4.7 mps so technically these are XSVCD but both Nero and Mpeg2vcr handle them fine. Also my DVD players can handle the higher peak bit rates. The results are really suprising. Better than anything I was getting with previous versions of MMC and with a smaller file size as well. In previous versions of MMC I pretty much did CBR (2.5 mps to 2.8 mps). Not anymore.
Give it a try.

next,
I've ben saying this routine all alone for gosh know's how long with the
WinTV PVR usb, being tha tit had no video editing what-so-ever!!
I found out that the MPEG2VCR thing and the NO MUXing necessary issue
months ago but people here probably thought it was only for the
WinTV PVR usb captures to svcd or close to it anywas.
I've never had an audio issue with this routine - ever!
...my two cents worth.
Oh, one more thing. There is or seems to be a bug in this
app. when you do mulitpile clips and then burn each clip
in nero or anything else, at the start of each clip's play,
there is a noticable pause or studder for 1/2 a second, and
it is pretty anoying at times. Just thought you and others
should know this!
also, get rid of the [] Temperal noise reduction thing.
it will cause slight blocks or fog like quality in your
clips if you save (re-encode slightly or all of your clip)
But, if you don't care about this one filter, then one
addiiton step you need to make for you clip to come out
properly is to click the video or audio button once, but
don't change anything, and then click the cancel button.
Once you do this, you'll notice the the "Estimated Output
(MB)" boxes will change to correct values"
- - very important step to follow.

vhelp - I've been using Mpeg2vcr for a while as well but with the older MMC captures the editing features were useless because of A/V sync problems. The problem is gone now with MMC 7.5.
As far as multiple clips I just create one file in Mpeg2vcr with my clips. Try using the clipboard feature and create one file. No problems with the pausing you mention. -
vhelp - great tip on the temperal noise. I was not aware of that. Going to give it a try now. Thanks!

This is bothering me a little, but can probably be filed under "to each his own".
1) Who would WANT a Nero-complaint SVCD? (NERO butchers video, all formats). USE VCDIMAGER FRONTENDS!
2) Who would WANT a SVCD-complaint CAPTURE? Quality sucks to high heaven! USE A HIGH RESOLUTION AND BITRATE!
3) Who would use Womble, TMPGEnc or other second-rate multiplexer. USE BBMPEG!
Again, to each his own. -
Homerpez my friend - you simply have to improve your reading skills.
1. The only time Nero may butcher an mpeg2 file is if you use the mpeg2 plug in. Absent of that it simply burns the mpeg. No butchering involved. Plus I do alot of overburning with 80 minute CDR's and also use 99 minute CDR's. Nero handles them fine.
2. Pretty much all I do is XSVCD. My player can handle it and I agree the quality is better. 4.4 mps VBR mpeg2 captures are in fact XSVCD. I have found though that by using Nero as a compliancy guide or test then files seem to have a better chance of playing on finicky players. It's just a preliminary test though. The files are in fact XSVCD but pass the Nero compliancy test. It does not mean that they are in fact compliant.
3. If you want to mux/demux in BBMPEG feel free to do the extra step. The point is that a demux/mux is not required when using Mpeg2vcr for edits. But if you still would like to demux/mux then feel free to do just that. It is a step that is not necessary. But if it makes you feel better then do it. I prefer to capture, edit, and burn.
