I have recorded 7 videos from my VCR to my PC as mpeg1 files vcd quality (352*288). The total time of these videos is about 7h 30m. I used DVD MovieFactory to make a DVD, but when I put the first file which is 490mb, it shows it as more than 1GB!!! and the program will make a maximum 4hour movie although the files are vcd quality not mpeg2 and there is no way to set a recording mode in it like dvd recorder. (Since the dvd is 4.7gb and the cd is 700mb or 80min, shouldn't the dvd take 4700mb or 536min=8h 54m?)

Then I tried NTI DVD Maker to make a DVD movie. The program did it and burned all the 7h 30m movie, but no dvd player could play it nor my PC!! When I check the dvd in "My Computer", I see a "VIDEO_TS" icon and inside it mpeg1 files as if I select "make a DVD Data"not "make a DVD-Video"in NTI DVD Maker!!!!

Please recommend a DVD movie making software that can make at least six hour movie.
Don't say that the dvd will have a bad picture if I put six hours in it because I have a 4:3 21" TV and I tried to play a clip of these videos (352*288) on my TV and the picure is very acceptable!!

  2. Ulead DVD Movie Factory:

Go to the Project Settings dialog.

Make sure that "Do not convert complaint MPEG files" is selected.

Make sure that "Treat MPEG audio as non-DVD compliant" is not selected.

    Then burn your DVD.

Thanks guys. I set the resolution to 352*288 in the settings and made a SEVEN HOUR movie!!

The picture is much better than what I expected. Almost like the EP recordng in the VCR.

I wonder would the 6hour or 8hour dvd recording be as good as PC recording?!!
