  1. Hi,
I started capturing my hi8 tapes at the max 5mb/sec into instant dvd usb. The results are slightly 'sparkily' and blocky with movement. They look fine and what I want just watching the tape on tv so the source is mostly adequate.
There's no frames dropped during capture.

The thing that confuses me is I've seen svcd (2500kb/sec) and even vcd (1+ kb/sec) that look better. I'd like this to work since it's so easy and quick. Are there some standard filters that people mostly use during or after capture during editing that tend to make a difference? this has only been viewed on the monitor since I haven't got the dvdr installed yet and svcd at 2.5kb/sec didn't look as good as I want and I can't try the cdr's at 5kb/sec on the tv (only cDVD)Do most of the even low bitrate samples look better because there all dvd rip sources?

    Appreciate the help.

  2. You've got something setup wrong as there are no artifacts at the 5mbps cap rate. It is beautiful.

Check the FAQ on the adstech site for hints. Is this the ONLY USB device installed? Make sure it is NOT on a USB hub. As a last resort, unistall all the ADS software (capwiz and PowerDVD) and reinstall.

    Here's an ADS message board...
