    its not really anything to do with media etc, just wondering if anyone would know why my friends dvd player is stuck on standby, watched a dvd on it stopped it for a while, so it was on standby come to turn it back on it wont do anything, wont eject, power button wont work, had to take to pieces to get disc out and still same, its being ignorant lol! tried unpluggin it numerous times and still same, remote wont do anything either, any ideas?

    Same thing happened to my Philips DVP-642 ... I ended up breaking it to get the DVD disc out. This happened all of 2 months after buying it brand new from Wal-Mart.
