  2. You have to install memory equal or better than the laptop need. This is just to take advantage on the higher speed memory can cost less when they are on sales.

Transcend is a good quality brand, thats ususually half the price or less of brands like Kingston.

    I put a Transcend 512MB stick into my Inspirion B120 for $34, a Kingston 512MB wouldv'e cost about $60.

Crucial.com is a good place to go to find out exactly what type of ram your laptop uses, but the ram they sell is WAAAY overpriced. For buying ram you should go to www.newegg.com

  4. I would use the same speed RAM of what you already have for stability reasons.Use CPUZ.EXE to find out what you have:

  5. If your Laptop use 2700 and you add 2100 stick laptop will lose some performance. Most of the time different brand same speed works ok,but don't be surprise if your laptop doesn't boot, or keeps rebooting, blue screen of death....

I updated an HP laptop few months ago ( ze 2000 I think) with 2 different brand of memory one is Kingman and the other is OEM brand. No issues so far.
