I downloaded a file from usenet, parred it, and un rarred it. All accomplished with no problems. but it produced a file with no extension. Gspot says it is an xvid file but also a .rar file (in faint letters) . It has no extension, just a "dash" and "xvid" like this... "filename-xvid"
I've tried to create a dvd using nero and other progs and they never recognize it as a compatible format. I've added .avi to the file and it runs, but the sound "pops" and crackles.
It will run correctly, with both sound and video, in vlan media player but will not run in my divx compatible dvd player.
WMP plays the audio ok and runs a visualization instead of the video. I've downloaded current divx codec.....What gives? I want to turn it into a DVD that will run in my standalone player.

Looked around before I posted but didn't see any thing that seems to fit the bill...any suggestions?
