Hi there, i've just replaced my dvd player with a Nissan DV-98S -
5.1 Dolby decoder, MP3, MPEG4, DivX, XVID, DPS
The newest compression on the market NERO Digital
Multi regionable
Plays almost everything you throw at it
Nero Digital is the first audio and video solution completely based the MPEG-4 standard
My question is, can i download a MPEG4, DivX, XVID movie and burn it to DVD to use on the player, or do i have to convert it to something else before i can watch it? To try it out, i have a movie but it's an AVI file, burnt it to disc but player would not read it ?@?#
I would appreciate anyones help, as i am totally new to all this. Have tried searching on the forums, but just getting more confused....thanks in advance !

First, please don't mention "download" unless of course you don't mean commercial copywritted material. That would be WAREZ. If it is public domain then it's fine.
These players should be able to play any of the formats you mention. Simply burn them as DATA on a CD or DVD/R. Do not convert them to anything else.No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD! -
If the download is of a type supported by your player than Yes you can just burn it to a disc, however quite a few downloads require some work in order to make them audible/viewable throughout the entire length. Make sure to download from reputable sources which list how the video was encoded.
